Research Library

The Research Library at the Byron Museum contains information pertaining to the history of Byron, Ogle County, and the State of Illinois. Resources include published books, historic photographs, newspapers, maps, obituaries, and church and cemetery records.

Researchers and students of all ages are welcomed to utilize the library to investigate such topics as early pioneer history, the Blackhawk War, Byron’s Soldier’s Monument and the 92nd Illinois Volunteer Infantry, the Underground Railroad, A.G. Spalding, local railroad history, Rock River Farms, genealogy, prominent citizens and military veterans, and information pertaining to the history of local businesses, schools, churches and events.

The Research Library also contains hard copies of the following books:
