We are located in scenic Byron, Illinois at the intersection of Illinois Routes 2 and 72. The museum complex consists of the historic Read House, which is a brick house at the corner of Route 2 and 72 (Union Street), and the adjacent building, which is where our entrance is located (pictured at right). From Route 2, turn North on Union Street to find our entrance.
Free parking is available on Union Street in front of the Museum,
in City Lot #1 on Walnut Street, and City Lot #2 on Union
Street.
If parking in the Municipal Lot, the easiest way to get here is
through the alley between 5th Alarm Firehouse and the
American Legion Hall.
As you walk in, you will see a reception area and gift shop. The museum does not charge admission, though we gladly accept donations.
